- On 27.12.2016. Ganyeil(Bentiu).Amid heavy SPLA IO security a government plane landed in Ganyeil with the Co. Commissioner of Nyal. Locals rushed the plane but were stopped and dispersed by IO forces using live firing in the air to protect the visitors. The live firing caused considerable disruption locally with many people fleeing for safety in the belief that fighting had broken out. The plane was grounded by the local authorities and the Commissioner is believed to have been arrested and detained by the IO. Tension has increased in the area due to the presence of the IO troops.
