On 26.2.2017. Yambio. Sporadic small arms fire was heard in Akorogbodi area northwest of the UNMISS Compound. The reason for the shooting was not known. No casualties were reported.
On 2.3.2017. Mayendit. Fighting, linked to cattle raiding, is continuing on 2 Mar in the vicinity of Mayendit. There are reports of NGO locations being looted, some houses being burnt and 2 persons killed. The 2 sides have accused each other of starting the violence.
On 1.3.2017. Pibor. It was reported that in the morning of 1 Mar the SPLA mobilized some non-Murle soldiers in Pibor and moved them west towards Gumuruk. The indication was that the ‘operation’ would conclude by the evening of the same day.
On 1.3.2017. Bentiu.At 0925 a UN PKF patrol team while patrolling at Kaljak (about 22km southwest of UNMISS Office in Bentiu) observed an object suspected to be a live RPG shell at the roadside. UNMAS office was informed for further necessary action.
On 2.3.2017.Bentiu. At 1000 UN PKF observed approximately 100 youths, armed move on foot on a northerly axis, following the SPLA movement. The nature and intent of the youth group was unknown.
