Politically-Motivated Violence

On 10.4.2017. Bentiu. UN PKF personnel reported continuous small arms fire south east of the UNMISS Field Office, with IDPs running from that direction. It was later ascertained that SPLA iO troops had opened fire to protect IDPs from armed men who were attempting to rob them. 

On 12.4.2017. Uror County, armed clashes took place between SPLA and SPLA iO forces. The fighting took place in Pakam and NGO personnel who had gone to Pieri for food distribution were forced to withdraw to safety

On 23.4.2017.Juba. There was a higher than normal presence of armed vehicles and security forces in some parts of Juba including the Dr Garang Memorial square, Munuki, and the area around Customs. It was also reported that disgruntled soldiers had engaged in stealing and looting in markets and shops ...

On 19.3.2017.Nassir.UN PKF heard small arms fire towards the southern and eastern direction of Kedbek area suspected to be from SPLA soldiers who were earlier observed to be moving towards the area.
