A UN PKF member was assaulted by an IDP when he prevented him from stealing iron roofing sheets

On 17.4.2017.Juba. A UN PKF member was assaulted by an IDP when he prevented him from stealing iron roofing sheets from vacant houses in the Weapons Free Zone outside UN House. The suspect was detained for further investigation. No injuries were reported.

On 17.4.2017.Juba. Two (02) gunshots were heard north west of UN House. The circumstances of the shooting are not known.

Two IO staff members in the PoC were reportedly harassed and detained

On 15.4.2017. Malakal. Two IO staff members in the PoC were reportedly harassed and detained by a number of the IO’s casual workers over a dispute over alleged non-payment of salary. Those being harassed were released after the intervention of the FPU.

A female IDP showed grenade to UN Police

1. On 13.4.2017.Bentiu. A female IDP approached UN Police personnel at an access gate to the PoC and showed them a hand grenade she had found. The grenade was taken by UNMAS and TDI personnel to a safe location.

An adult male IDP was apprehended by UNPOL patrol team

On 9.3.2017.Bentiu. An adult male IDP was apprehended by UNPOL patrol team for stealing wire mesh near the buffer zone. The suspect was escorted to a holding facility for further investigation and the stolen item was recovered.

N Police and FPU patrol team in a UN vehicle were in the PoC when the vehicle was stoned by IDPs

On 10.3.2017.Bentiu.A UN Police and FPU patrol team in a UN vehicle were in the PoC when the vehicle was stoned by IDPs. The vehicle was slightly damaged and 2 IDPs were detained and delivered to the PoC Community leadership.

4 IDP children were injured when a grenade they had found exploded

On 10.3.2017.Bentiu. 4 IDP children were injured when a grenade they had found exploded in their shelter within the PoC. It is unclear where the children had first found the grenade.

On 15.3.2017.Juba. An UNMISS patrol found an UXO at the weapon-free-zone of UN House. UNMAS was notified for further action.

An IDP breached the perimeter fence, illegally entered the UNMISS compound,

On 15.3.2017.Bentiu. An IDP breached the perimeter fence, illegally entered the UNMISS compound, broke into a UN staff member’s accommodation and stole some cash. The intruder was apprehended by a security guard with the stolen valuables in his possession and was handed over to UNPOL.
