Members demining group completed relocation

On 15.4.2017.Bor. In Jonglei, members of a contracted demining company, along with a number of INGO and NGO personnel, completed a pre-emptive self-resourced relocation from New Fangak to Old Fangak in Fangak, due to heightened concerns over possible SPLA/SPLA iO action in the area.

On 15.4.2017.Juba. Shots were heard on two separate occasions; one occasion south east of the UNMISS Field Office, the other west of the office. The circumstances behind the shooting are not known.

Armed clashes intensified in Uror

On 13.4.2017.Uror (Akobo). Armed clashes between SPLA and SPLA IO forces which started in Yuai reportedly spread towards the areas of Pulchuol and Waat. NGOs operating in Walgak relocated staff to Kaikuny, then onwards to Akobo. Plans are now to relocate NGOs from Akobo on 15 April.

A second integrated military and civilian UNMISS patrol departed the UNMISS Field Office in an attempt to reach Baggari.

On 13.4.2017. Wau. A second integrated military and civilian UNMISS patrol departed the UNMISS Field Office in an attempt to reach Baggari. The patrol team was also stopped by the SPLA at the same check point. The UNMISS patrol also returned to the Field Office.

A raft of NGOs relocated from the Walgak

On14-15.4.2017. Akobo. A raft of NGOs relocated from the Walgak, Kaikuny, Akobo region. The successful relocation was completed on the afternoon of the 15 April.

A female IDP showed grenade to UN Police

1. On 13.4.2017.Bentiu. A female IDP approached UN Police personnel at an access gate to the PoC and showed them a hand grenade she had found. The grenade was taken by UNMAS and TDI personnel to a safe location.

On 10.4.2017. Bentiu. UN PKF personnel reported continuous small arms fire south east of the UNMISS Field Office, with IDPs running from that direction. It was later ascertained that SPLA iO troops had opened fire to protect IDPs from armed men who were attempting to rob them.
