Four dead in Yambio violence

Description:

At least 4 people have been killed in shooting in Yambio, the capital of South Sudan's Western Equatoria state.

The unrest began on Friday and continued until Saturday when SPLA Chief of General General Paul Malong visited the town to bring order.

Malong ordered SPLA soldiers to stop fighting with people in Yambio, threatening to shoot anyone who does not comply with his orders.

The situation remains tense. Some residents are reportedly taking refuge at a UNMISS base in the town for protection.

Western Equatoria state has experienced unrest in recent months between local groups and SPLA units from outside Equatoria.
