Six armed men in military uniform on Saturday raided Kajo-Keji Christian College at Romogi and robbed humanitarian agencies operating in its compound, a church official said. Lule James Kenyi, principle of the Kajo-Keji Christian College said a group of gunmen observed to be members of South Sudan army (SSPDF) looted offices of the American Refugee Committee (ARC) International South Sudan Program and the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC). He said the gunmen stormed the college’s premises hosting ARC and looted 17,369 US dollars , 23,456 SSP and 1, 286,000 Uganda Shillings. “In addition, the assailants took nine mobile telephones, one laptop, two backpacks and a hard drive of the same organization,” added Lule. According to Lule, the assailants also robbed a laptop and two telephones from Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) compound within the church premises. He further said the gunmen also robbed 10,000 SSP from youth they met on their way-out. “The act is irresponsible and malicious because it is scaring away humanitarian organisations, which are sacrificing the lives of their staff and assets to save our citizenry,” said Lule. The management of the college urged the military command in Kajo-Keji County of Central Equatoria State to conduct an immediate identification parade to arrest the errant soldiers to recover the stolen funds. For his part, SSPDF spokesman Major General Lul Ruai Koang confirmed government soldiers were involved in raiding the college in Kajo-Keji. "Soldiers led by a sergeant who deserted the military base went and looted citizens. Military commanders in the area have been directed to search for them, form a disciplinary committee for them and bring them to the military leadership for accountability and trial," said Lul.
