At least eight people were killed, many injured and about 350 heads of cattle stolen during a cattle raid in opposition-controlled Panyijiar County of former Unity State last Sunday. Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Monday, Panyijiar County Commissioner Yohanis Kajek said a group of armed men allegedly from neighboring Maper, Alor County of Western Lakes State attacked the county killing four people including a woman. Kajek said one person was severely injured during the attack. “Four people were killed, three men, and one woman. One person was injured after he was shot in the stomach and he is in critical condition at the hospital,” he said. The local official added that about 350 heads of cattle were looted. For his part, the commissioner of Alor County of Western Lakes State confirmed to Radio Tamazuj on Monday that four people were killed and eight others reported missing after they went for a cattle raid in Unity State. Robert Makur Kucdit Koror said the details of the casualties are still scanty but more details will be availed. “It was first reported to me that eight people from the raiders who went to Unity state for cattle raiding are missing and four confirmed dead,” he added. He said some people are reported to have drowned while crossing the river.
