One killed in Jonglei boat attack

At least one person was killed and another critically wounded in an attack on a commercial boat in South Sudan’s Jonglei State on Friday, a local official said. Elijah Thongbor Abraham, the Secretary-General for Jonglei Boat Union told Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday that the incident occurred when a boat carrying dry fish along the Nile from Fangak to Jonglei was attacked by a gunman at Jorwach area. Thongbor pointed out that one person died on the spot while the other critically wounded is nursing his injuries at Bor Hospital. Thongbor urged the relevant government authorities in Jonglei, Eastern Lakes and Fangak states to beef up security along the Nile.
