Juba Monitor Crime Reporter Merio Jimmy is nominated as National Sexual Gender Based Violence Ambassador for year the 2016. His nomination is based on articles he writes unfolding cases of Sexual Gender Based Violence that are committed within South Sudanese Communities.
This declaration comes after close monitoring of journalists reporting on SGBV cases and Mr. Jimmy emerged to be the outstanding journalists who follow SGBV cases and report them in a consistent systematic way, following court proceedings and informing the general public about the verdicts.
Among the roles he will play as SGBV ambassador for 2016, he will be supported to facilitate dialogues on prevention of Sexual Gender Based Violence across the country and will be encouraged to champion men to men dialogue on promotion and protection of women and girls’ rights.
Merio Jimmy will receive an award during the International Human Rights Day, which is celebrated annually on every 10th December to mark the day when the United Nation General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
