Armed youth from Eastern Lakes State raided 445 herds of cattle from the Pakam community in Paloch County of Western Lakes State last Thursday, a local official said. The minister for information in Western Lakes State, Majak Isaac Ror told Radio Tamazuj that the incident occurred prior to the Western Lakes State governor’s meeting with the Pakam youth on Friday. Majak said there were no casualties from the attack, but local residents claimed two people from both sides died during the raid. The state minister, however, said he was unaware of any retaliatory incident in which the Pakam armed youth allegedly went to Agar cattle camp near Yirol County of Eastern Lakes State to raid cattle. He urges the warring armed youth from Western and Eastern Lakes States to cease cattle raids and work towards peaceful coexistence. Government officials in Eastern Lakes State could not be reached for comment.
