A national security agent was shot dead, while a South Sudan People’s Defence Forces soldier and a woman were injured when an unknown armed man opened fire at a disco in South Sudan’s Gbudue State on Sunday night. Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday, Gbudue state Information Minister Hussein Enoka said according to eyewitnesses, the unknown assailant walked into Shalom Lodge in Yambio and shot at the three people before escaping. “One man died on the spot, his name is Israel David Faustino, of the national security. The woman Rose Lucia sustained serious gunshot wounds but is receiving treatment. The other person is a soldier of the SSPDF, one of the governor’s bodyguards who went to the disco after work,” he said. Enoka pointed out that a woman is being held in connection with the incident after she was identified to have been standing close to the assailant while he committed the crime. He said the suspect will be instrumental in identifying the culprit and providing necessary information for investigations. “These are people who are anti-peace, they do not want peace, but we want to assure our people that this is a criminal issue and the CID and police are working on this issue and to maintain peace in the state,” he assured.
