A soldier was killed and two civilians injured in an attack in the town of Pibor in South Sudan’s Boma State over the weekend, a local official said. Margaret Golla, the state information minister, told Radio Tamazuj on Monday that the incident occurred on Saturday evening when an armed group attacked a family in the Ngarilim neighborhood. She further said the gunmen killed one soldier and injured two civilians in the attack. Golla accused members of the SPLA-IO faction led by Riek Machar of involvement in the attack. She urged armed groups in the state to desist from violence and work for peace. “We are now in peace and people are waiting for the opposition to join us in May,” she said. SPLA-IO officials in the state could not immediately be reached for comment.
