Violent clashes have been reported in Northern Bari Payam, Juba County

Juba 22nd January 2015, violent clashes have been observed between Mundari and Bari communities in Northern Bari Payam of Juba County.

Community Empowerment for Progress Organization (CEPO) in strong terms condemns the violent clashes between these two groups who are farmers and pastoralists respectively.

The Executive Director for Community Empowerment for Progress Organization (CEPO) has described the situation as unfortunate since it claimed lives and property. He urges South Sudanese to shun resolving communal misunderstanding violently.

“Human lives have continue to perish of the same goal in the society and the best approach for mitigating the continuous clashes of same goal among our society members is non-violent approach to communal misunderstanding.

CEPO is ware that flow of guns among South Sudanese communities has promoted the culture of resolving communal misunderstanding in a violent manner. This violent clashes between Bari and Mundari is not of first time, similar violence occurred in 2012 but the challenges is that always such violent communal conflict are not resolved in best method that could bring sustainable non-violent culture of resolving disputes among the communities, Mr. Yakani lamented.

CEPO urges Central Equatoria state government to respond to this violent conflict between Bari and Mundari immediately to avoid further blood shed.
