President urges South Sudanese to welcome SPLA/M-IO advance team

Juba, November 19th 2015, South Sudanese President HE Salvar Kiir has said the advance team of SPLM-IO should be accorded warm reception on the interest of peace and stability when they return to Juba. The president made this statement while addressing the Parliamentarians in the August House.

Community Empowerment for progress Organization lauds the president’s speech and terms it as motivating and encouraging.
The Executive Director for Community Empowerment for Progress Organization Mr. Edmund Yakani has said the speech is a good gesture for effective implementation of the Peace Agreement signed in August 2015.
“The words of the president came in a right time where the country is expecting the coming of the advance team of the SPLM-IO and CEPO welcomes the recent statement made by the Leader of the SPLM-IO that he is ready to honor the signed peace agreement”.
Currently, the national priority for attaining peace and stability for better living standards in South Sudan is the effective and timely implementation of the Peace agreement though the implementation of the permanent ceasefire is facing huge challenges since there are incidents of military clashes especially in some parts of Unity and Upper Nile states.
Yakani further said absence of political will demonstrated by the signatories to the peace agreement instills doubt to the citizen on the effective and timely implementation of the Peace accord. The continuous accusation over violation of the permanent ceasefire is disturbing the fate of the peace agreement, Mr. Yakani stressed.
In strong terms CEPO urges the principal signatories to the August 2015 peace agreement to attend the forthcoming IGAD summit scheduled for late August 2015 in Juba.
South Sudanese at their various capacities should voluntarily offer will for effective and timely implementation of the signed peace agreement.
