On 30th April 2020 H.E. President dissolved the incumbent Transitional National Legislative Assembly

IGAD Council of Minister called upon the Parties to reconstitute the Transitional National Legislative Assembly in accordance with the R-ARCSS within ten (10) days of the dissolution of the incumbent Transitional National Legislative Assembly

  1. From 24th April 2020 up to 9th May 2020 parties completed nomination of candidates to be appointed as parliamentarians to the Revitalized Transitional National Legislative Assembly on the 10th May 2020
  2. On 10th May 2020 new Revitalized Transitional National Legislative Assembly came into force

IGAD Council of Ministers called on the parties to immediately resume discussions and consultations and reach on an agreement within the fifteen 15 days of the issuance of this Communique

  1. From 24th April 2020 up to 7th May 2020 parties reached resolution on the formation of the state and local government
  2. From 8th May 2020 state and local government comes into force 

IGAD Council of Ministers urged the President of the Republic of South Sudan, in the spirit of inclusivity and harmony to undertake the necessary consultations with concerned officials and organs in accordance with the R-ARCSS or the TCRSS 2011 (as amended) while making public political appointments in the future

From 24 April 2020 until the expiring date of R-ARCSS in 2023 the President of the Republic of South Sudan conducted necessary consultations with concerned officials and organs in accordance with the R-ARCSS or the TCRSS 2011 (as amended) while making public political appointments in the future 

IGAD Council Ministers encouraged all Parties to ensure that the 35% women representation is respected and adhere to in the future nominations to various public officials

  1. 192 or 193 Female parliamentarians appointed to the Transitional National Legislative Assembly of the RTGoNU
  2. 35% for women quota observed during the appointment of chairpersons and Deputy Chairpersons of outstanding committees of the Transitional National Legislative Assembly of the RTGoNU.
  3. 3 female Governors are appointed among the 10 states Governors
  4. 3 states Revitalized Transitional Legislative Assemblies appointed female Speakers
  5. 35% of women quota observed during appointment of State Revitalized Transitional Legislative Assembly
  6. 35% for women quota observed during the appointments of chairpersons and deputy chairpersons of outstanding committees of State Revitalized Transitional Legislative Assembly
  7. 35% for women quota observed during the appointments of Local Government County Commissioners and Municipality Mayors
  8. 35% for women quota observed during the appointment of Local Government Revitalized Legislative Council Chairpersons
  9. 35% for women quota observed during the appointments of heads of outstanding committees of Local Government Legislative Councils
