Description:

On 24.11.2016. Juba. A UN vehicle with two expat female staff members on board was followed by two government security elements and stopped on the small road heading into Tulip Hotel and opposite Panorama Plaza at around 18:00hrs. The stop was said to be related to allegedly failing to follow directions from security officers while a presidential motorcade was moving along Airport road. Unconfirmed reports suggest the security forces held the two expat female staff at gunpoint during the stop. A nearby hotel’s security on duty pressed an alarm button which attracted other people to the scene and reportedly defused the tension after which the security elements left. Conflicting reports suggest the incident took place at 19:45hrs and that the government officials were Traffic Police officers; said report further states the passengers lost one driver’s licence and a UN ID card. No injuries were reported.
