A soldier was shot dead by unknown assailants on the outskirts of Waat Town in South Sudan’s Bieh State last Friday, a local official said. Waat County Commissioner Issac Pur Ruot told Radio Tamazuj on Sunday that the soldier had gone missing since November 5.
He pointed out that the soldier’s body was found with bullet wounds and drowned in water. Pur said the soldier, identified as Corporal Kawaj had gone to collect wood before he was attacked by unknown assailants.“The motive behind the killing is not clear. And his assailants are unknown and still at large,” he said.
The local official pointed out that the soldier was buried on Saturday and investigations into the incident have been launched.
