A journalist working for Radio Miraya was arrested in Juba on 29.5.2018

South Sudan’s media regulator has arrested a journalist working for Radio Miraya, which is owned by the United Nations, for allegedly working illegally. In March, the Media Authority suspended the operations of Radio Miraya for allegedly violating the terms of its broadcast license. Multiple sources told Radio Tamazuj that Sani Martin was picked by members of the Media Authority while covering a press conference held by information minister Michael Makuei at the premises of the ministry of parliamentary affairs today morning.The sources said the UN radio journalist is being held at the premises of the media regulator where his phones and equipment have been taken away.
