On 14.10.2016. Torit. An ambush against a fully marked INGO vehicle along the Torit - Katire road (8-10kms south of Torit town) at around 10:30hrs. Unknown gunmen (2) reportedly jumped in front of the moving vehicle firing off three (3) rounds that hit the front of the vehicle, three (3) rounds that hit the passenger’s side as it was driving away, two (2) rounds hitting the rear passenger’s side and one (1) more round hitting the rear of the vehicle. The driver drove off but the passenger, a national staff member, was fatally shot and died from his injuries.This is the third NGO worker killed across the country in the span of 7 days.
