9 killed, 450 cows raided in fresh inter-communal clashes in Boma

Description:

At least nine people were killed and about 450 cows raided in inter-communal clashes in Jebel Boma County of South Sudan’s Boma State on Friday, an official said. Natabo Abraham Nyitaak, Boma state local government minister told Radio Tamazuj Monday that the clashes started when armed youth from neighboring Kapoeta State attacked Jie community at Jebel Boma’s Loyapuru village on Friday afternoon. “Nine people were killed and one person was injured and was even brought to Juba yesterday by the Red Cross,” he said. The state official pointed out that local communities in Jebel Boma areas were left vulnerable and are living in fear of imminent attacks. Abraham has appealed to the presidency to intervene and end the continuous clashes among communities in Boma State. However, Kapoeta authorities denied the allegations. Kapoeta state acting governor and minister of physical infrastructure Martin Lorika told Radio Tamazuj that as a government they do not have any information regarding an attack. But instead, he claimed that they are receiving many people seeking refuge in Kapoeta after fleeing violence in Boma
