6 killed, 5 wounded in an attack on a police station in Kapoeta

At least six people including a policeman were killed on Friday by a group of armed men after they attacked a police station in South Sudan’s Kapoeta State. Kapoeta state Information Minister, Joseph Kabaka, told Radio Tamazuj on Sunday that five people were also injured in the attack, while two community policemen and a child were killed in the incident. According to Kabaka, the armed men attacked the police station in Kimatong area of Kapoeta West County with an intention to release one of their relatives who had been arrested for murder last month. He explained that the armed men managed to release their kin, beat up police before engaging in a shoot-out. Kabaka said authorities are still pursuing the perpetrators and assured the local population that justice will be served.
