4 dead, 5 injured in Bieh cattle raid, says county commissioner

Description:

At least four herdsmen were killed and five others wounded in a cattle raid in Pading County of South Sudan’s Bieh State on Sunday, a local official said. Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Monday, Pading County commissioner Makuei Pok Bai, said the incident occurred on Sunday evening when an armed group attacked the herders in Guer area of Pading County. “The cattle keepers were returning from a grazing site when they were ambushed by some members of Murle youth in Guer. Four local herders died during the incident while five others were injured. The attackers took 7, 000 heads of cattle,” he said. The local official urged Boma State government officials to recover the stolen cattle and return to their respective owners. He appealed for humanitarian assistance to those whose cattle were stolen saying they lack food. Radio Tamazuj could not immediately reach Boma State authorities for comment.
